Description

Description

These stylish black mittens are made of natural merino wool with red lace flowers. They are really beautiful and have retro or burlesque style. Black wool tubes with a thumb hole are made by hand in wet felting technique. They are very soft, friendly to the skin and breathable – perfect for warm winter or cold autumn and spring. Red flower pattern, which is the main decorative motif of these mittens, has been cut from the lace and handsewn into the wool. It is neatly attached and on the black background looks just wonderful. It makes these mittens shine and makes them a pieces of wearable art. Combination of fine black wool and beautiful red lace make these mittens perfect for elegant women. They will look amazing with your evening outfit and will give you a feeling of luxury.

Choose one of four sizes from my sizing guide. In case your hands fit two sizes, you can choose the smaller one for close fit or the bigger one for more loose mittens.

Washing Instructions

How to care about felted handicraft

Merino does not need to be washed as often as other types of wool. However, you may want to refresh it from time to time. Felted accessories and jewelry keep their colors and shape if hand washed gently in warm water. Here is a detailed instruction on how to care about them (we enclose it in every shipment as well):

  • Wash your felt handicraft manually at about 30 Celsjus degrees using washing agents for wool.
  • Dip them gently, but do not rub - otherwise they may shrink or deform.
  • After washing, rinse your felt item with water of the same temperature, preferably with a rinsing liquid for wool.
  • Do not wring or twist felt - remove the excess water with your hands using a towel.
  • Spread out washed accessories on a towel to let them dry.
  • If necessary iron your felt item using 'wool' mode or applying a low temperature.

Felting needles

Take a deep breath before you take one of them into your hand. With tiny barbs on their edges felting needles are smart and dangerous tools for tangling fibers in the most laborious way possible.

Delicate wool fibers, just as my hands, need to be protected with a soap made of natural olive oils. This soap makes my products longer lasting and skin-friendly.

This technique is pretty similar to wet felting but items you create are more lightweight. You can make nuno felt using silk, linen or other fabric with open weave – just remember to make a mess!
