Blue Felt Brooch with Flower Shape and Exotic Design

‹Return to Previous Page
Description

Description

This blue felt brooch is really exotic. It has a flower shape and fancy blue petals. The flower sits on two turquoise leaves and has a cute sprout on one side. Its center is decorated with a piece of azure silk fabric and sewn with green glass beads. I also decorate all parts of the brooch with yellow silk fibers that contrast with blue tones and make the flower look fresh and tropical.

I make this blue flower brooch by hand in felting technique. Its main material is soft Australian merino wool, which makes it nice in touch and very lightweight. Thanks to safety pin that is on its back, you can easily attach this fiber brooch anywhere you want. It will match many types of clothes and you can use it to accessorize your bags and hats as well. Every time you wear this blue felt brooch it will attract attention and give your outfit an original look. This blue flower will also be a perfect gift for anyone, who is passionate about felted jewelry and loves blue tones.

Washing Instructions

How to care about felted handicraft

Merino does not need to be washed as often as other types of wool. However, you may want to refresh it from time to time. Felted accessories and jewelry keep their colors and shape if hand washed gently in warm water. Here is a detailed instruction on how to care about them (we enclose it in every shipment as well):

  • Wash your felt handicraft manually at about 30 Celsjus degrees using washing agents for wool.
  • Dip them gently, but do not rub - otherwise they may shrink or deform.
  • After washing, rinse your felt item with water of the same temperature, preferably with a rinsing liquid for wool.
  • Do not wring or twist felt - remove the excess water with your hands using a towel.
  • Spread out washed accessories on a towel to let them dry.
  • If necessary iron your felt item using 'wool' mode or applying a low temperature.

This technique is pretty similar to wet felting but items you create are more lightweight. You can make nuno felt using silk, linen or other fabric with open weave – just remember to make a mess!

Needle felting

Needle felting is the most laborious and the most precise way of making felt. It is used whenever one works on a detail and wants to control the wool down to the smallest fiber.
