Fibers and hands protection
Wool fibers are delicate and soaked with a valuable lanolin. This is why you use a special detergent for washing wool clothes. Similarly, in wet felting process – just like in washing – wool fibers are softened with detergent and rubbed for some time. Therefore, if you do not want to lose their quality and flush all the lanolin out, you need to preserve them with a special felting soap.
I protect wool fibers using all-natural soaps with high percentage of olive oil, just like French Savon de Marseille or Syrian Aleppo soap. Thanks to this you get what you expect – natural and skin-friendly products. And for me an extra benefit of using felting soap is that I take care of my hands as well.
